I’m an introverted, socially awkward, and slightly obsessive nerd. That makes me not the best in new social situations, but it does make me a passionate graphic designer. I love wordplay and swordplay (experienced with the former, sadly untrained in the latter). I love to study history, literature, design, art, and theology. Get me talking on one of those things, and the nerd can often overpower the introvert , although it can never overpower the socially awkward. I love practical jokes, hanging out with my friends, shopping at used bookstores, using big words, and getting involved in far more projects than I can possibly juggle. I’m a full-time (or nearly so) student at James Madison University, where I’m studying to get a degree in Graphic Design. I got married last year, and though I may look like a cherubic 15-year-old, I’m actually older than my wife. I have to make sure everyone knows I’m older, because she’s much smarter than me, and I’ve gotta have something, right?
Q & A
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of CPC?
A: I can’t pick just one thing. I feel claustrophobic. Help.
I enjoy reading, watching movies, writing, doing personal design work and small design jobs for others, hiking, spending time in the woods (although I don’t get to do this much anymore), singing at the top of my lungs, spending time with my incredible wife.
Q: Why do you love or not love your job?
A: I’ve been working at CPC for nearly four years now, and I wouldn’t trade the on-the-job experience and all the people I’ve met for anything. Even the difficult customers have taught me valuable lessons, and the constant flow of work of all varieties allows me to continually hone my craft. The only thing I don’t love about my job is that I can’t be here full-time, and that is my school’s fault, not my job’s.
Q: What year did you start working for CPC?
A: October 31, 2014
Q: Music Preference at the moment?
A: Indie rock, Bach, music for Lent, and a good dose of anything in between.
Q: Chocolate or Vanilla?
A: Chocolate swirl. Compromise, people, compromise.
Q: What is your favorite Season?
A: I love the rainy parts of winter, and the not-rainy parts of early fall.
Q: What’s the top item on your bucket list?
A: I’m so bad at coming up with only one answer. But I’d have to say at least in the top 5 is visiting Ireland, where my wife’s family has ties, and stopping in England on the way back to browse the book stores at Haye-on-Wye.
